CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILTY PROJECTS
We actively shape society: We work to improve the life quality of socially disadvantaged people, we provide gifted young people with the technology training they need to meet tomorrow’s challenges, and we help preserve and sustain society’s cultural heritage and future through our patronage of the arts.

The Siemens group of companies on the Philippines composed of Siemens Inc., ETSI Technologies, Siemens Power Operations Inc., and OSRAM Philippines Limited Corp., recently pledged the construction of a multi-purpose hall at CASA San Miguel, a cultural arts center located in Zambales. The envisioned Siemens Multi-Purpose Hall will be used for the students’ private instruction, workshops and seminars in music, theater and the arts. Siemens’ participation in arts and culture development is part of its commitment to corporate social responsibility in nurturing its relationship with the CASA San Miguel cultural community.

THE SIEMENS I-CHALLENGE PROGRAM
All through the years, Siemens has been supportive of various projects as our means of supporting the society. Two years ago we built the Siemens Hall in the aim of teaching music and arts to the unfortunate children of Zambales. We are proud of the products we have developed. Now kids are performing with various artists.

The new Siemens Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme is about ‘education’ – specialised education or training for our key students to prepare them for the business world and its expectations.

Under the leadership of Siemens President & CEO, Mr. Adrian Wood, we are looking to implement a series of educational programmes and seminars that will help make them ready for the ‘real’ world after school or college. Thus the birth of the SIEMENS i-CHALLENGE.

The Siemens i-Challenge is Siemens 2008 corporate social responsibility that will run on various phases. For Phase 1, Siemens have identified top 3 universities and have identified different business groups to participate. The idea behind phase 1 is to share with the students Siemens’ research and development through classroom talks. This will be followed by symposiums and other internal activities. It’s information sharing on phase 1 making the students aware of what we do and be interested in working for us.

Phase 2 enables qualified students to join our company as OJT’s in various divisions. Instead of Siemens working with classified advertisements, this will open a database of those who participated.

Phase 3 is to launch a university wide contest that will showcase the students understanding of what Siemens does. Siemens to draw the mechanics and the timetable.

The Siemens i-challenge aims to be nominated for Siemens top+ awards for the year 2008 or 2009.
